World Environment Day 2023
Today, 5th June 2023, is World Environment Day, and this year the organizers wanted to focus on the problem of plastic pollution through the #NoPlasticPollution campaign.
Every year, more than 400 million tons of plastic are produced worldwide, of which only 10% is recycled. It is estimated between 19 and 23 million tons of plastic end up in rivers, lakes, and seas. We can only see the top of the iceberg without being aware that microplastics, which are generated by the disintegration of plastic into particles of less than five millimeters. These invade the food and water we consume, as well as the air we breathe, representing a danger to our health.
At Estamp, we work to minimize the use of plastic in our packaging, including those coming from our supply chain. At the same time, we recycle 100% of the plastic waste generated in our operations. Thus, we want to call for general awareness to make a responsible use of natural resources, prioritizing alternatives to plastic and ensuring that the final disposal of plastic is recycling. We encourage you to exercise the power we have as consumers to make a difference.
